Born in Brisbane, Anne has lived in various towns in Queensland, commencing married life in Dalby, Chinchilla, with 10 years in Brisbane at The Gap, Mt Isa (twice), Townsville (twice) and Warwick.
Anne has always been involved in community, particularly as President of P&C’s when their children were at school, Church activities, particularly as Youth Group Leader and Scouting.
Anne holds Tertiary qualifications of a Bachelor of Community Welfare from James Cook University, Townsville.
Work experience has included – Assistant to Inspector of Schools in Mt Isa, coordinating Housing for 350 teachers, Parent School Consultant covering North West Queensland, Financial Advisor to low income people considering Bankruptcy (included para-legal training), Manager Community Youth Support Scheme assisting people to gain skills for employment, JCU Student Union Education Officer assisting students to gain skills for part time work and preparation for CV’s and applications for full time positions. Other positions include Charter Manager of Flexi Care Inc. supporting aged people, carers and people with a disability in the community to enable them to stay living independently (commenced with 4 staff and after 14 years the organisation employed a staff of 68.) Most recently Anne has enjoyed working as a Consultant in the Retirement Industry and Community Aged Care. She has served on various Boards and is currently Chair of Queensland Aged and Disability Advocacy Board.
Anne has been the partner of a Rotarian since 1978, and previously a member of Zonta for 6 years, but she particularly joined Rotary for the balance in fellowship and service (local & worldwide) that both men and women bring to the organisation.
Anne joined the Rotary Club of Sunnybank Hills in early 2003 and has served in various Board positions and was President in 2006-07. Other Rotary activities have included Chair of PDG Allan & Debbie James District Conference held in Ipswich. She was awarded Rotarian of the Year in July 2007 and named a Paul Harris Fellow with a sapphire in 2007 by the Rotary Club of Sunnybank Hills.
Anne looks forward to serving as an Assistant Governor in 2008-09 and also as Secretary to the Conference Committee of DG Chris & Allanah in 2009.
Anne has been married to PDG Ray for many years and they enjoy their friendship with their three adult children, their partners and particularly their six grandchildren ranging in age from 15 years to 3 years.
